Network settings

Reach internal APIs behind a private certificate authority or a corporate proxy, and set timeouts, redirects and cookies.

Internal APIs often sit behind a corporate proxy, or use a certificate no public authority signed. Settings → Network (⌘,, or Ctrl+,) is where you set those up, along with timeouts, redirects and cookies.

Certificates

There are two ways to reach a host whose certificate comes from a private certificate authority (CA):

OptionWhat it does
Trust with a CA bundlePoint Studio at the CA's PEM file. Certificates are still checked, against a root you supplied. Use this one.
Skip verificationNo checking at all, for that host. For when there's no bundle to hand.

Both are set per host. There's no switch that turns checking off everywhere, so a choice made for one internal service doesn't quietly cover the rest of the internet.

While a host has verification off:

  • requests to it show an unverified badge in the address bar. Click it to open the setting.
  • the Settings button in the top bar shows a small red dot.

Proxy

By default Studio uses HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY and NO_PROXY from your environment, the same as other tools on your computer. You can set a proxy by hand instead, with its own bypass list, or turn proxies off.

Timeouts, redirects and cookies

  • Timeout. How long a request can take before Studio gives up.
  • Redirects. Followed by default, up to ten. When one is followed, the response pane says so, and where the answer came from.
  • Cookies. Kept per API, so a session from one API never reaches another's host. They're kept in memory while Studio is open, never written to disk. You can see and clear them here.

Good to know

The update check uses the proxy setting, but not the certificate settings.
